April 10th Hi Golden Hawks I will post the remote learning schedule at the bottom of this announcement, it should be the same one you received from the school already and is posted on the Holly Springs HS website. I will be posting more information later. Our class starts on Monday at 8:30, I will be posting videos, information, assignments etc for you to be doing. Since Wake County has not determined exactly how this quarter will be graded I will urge you all to log in and get to work with class. I will be holding regular office hours during the week, some will via Google Meets and some just via email. I look forward to seeing you all on Google Meets, I really miss all of your faces and seeing you all! If you have not been checking announcements, please go through and check all announcements from March 13th through today and also during the weekend and of course on Monday!
World History First Period Will Meet 8:30-9:30 pm Mondays and Wednesdays And I Will Have office Hours on Google Meets from 1:00-2:00 those same days. I will post additional hours for Friday later.

Corruption, power and wealth in the Catholic Church, a movement with a frustration with the Catholic church, the sale of indulgences, (make sure you know what this is!) FYI: For those of you who are trying to get to your WCPSS student email through Gmail - this doesn't work. The majority of you can get into their Wake ID portal just fine - you just need to know that you need to click on the Outlook icon and it takes you in.
So, In Summary - you can get into your Wake ID, then you have access to their student email - you just have to go through Wake ID and not Gmail

I would encourage you to take a look at Power Schools and see if you have any missing work, if you do you can take a picture of it and I can grade it.
When we begin our distant learning, you will need to have gotten the information on the Renaissance so please look through the power point in the resource section, I will also post some videos on the topic here

I suggest that you keep a record - in one form or another, of your choosing, a journal, a blog, a scrapbook, an e-portfolio, a film, a series of artworks, a short story, poems, a series of haiks - of your life in these unprecedented days. This is NOT an assignment or anything for this class just something you may want to think about doing for yourselves and for posterity. You are living through historical times,

You will have a Benchmark test Wednesday so we will review some as well. You were given a review guide for this last week so make sure you have completed this along with you Unit 2 Purple Sheet (Study Guide)
March 5th Hi Golden Hawks You will be working on your note Packet on the High Middle Ages. Your notes will come from the reading you have. Pease read over the information and take good and useful notes on each section. Remember focus on quality notes and not how little you can write. One you have completed that work on your Purple Sheets (aka Unit 2 Study Guide) You also have a Review Guide for your Benchmark Test later next week

February 19th: Hi Golden Hawks: Your homework for tonight is to go to the resource section and open up the power point for Rome and compete your note packet from the beginning through The Roman Republic ends when Augusts becomes Emperor and study your vocabulary words.
February 14th Happy Valentines day Golden hawks: Complete your review guide on Greece for your quiz on Wednesday when you return. This Review Guide will be graded. There is a power point on Greece in the resource section if you need it. I will have both A and B lunches tutorials on Wednesday as well if you need to come in and make up any missed work. February 13th: Hey there Golden hawks: Your homework tonight is to go to the resource section and then to Greece power point and work on one page of your note packet that includes Athens and Sparta, Philosophers and Achievements. The words that are in red should help guide your note taking. You can always add more information than what is in red but the red is the minimum amount
February 12th Heads up Golden Hawks, You have a test over the river valley's on Thursday so make sure you fill out that Review Guide!!! Your India / China Paper Doll is due Thursday too. Remember I am open for tutorials on Wednesday both A and B lunch if you want to come in and work on review guides, your Dolls or ask me questions about your review guides

February 7th: Enjoy your unexpected 3 day weekend Golden Hawks: Take this time to fill in and study your Egypt and Mesopotamia Quiz Review Guide and also your Unit 1 Purple Sheet aka Unit 1 Study Guide. We will take the quiz on Monday and start on India and China next. After we complete these last two river valleys we will test later next week on the Four River Valleys.
February 5th Hello Golden Hawks Make sure you are studying every night, we will quiz on Mesopotamia and Egypt on Friday and start India and China Friday too. Review guides will be given out on Thursday to help you prepare fro your quiz.
February 4th: Hi Golden Hawks! Today we will be learning about Mesopotamia and Hammurabi's code we will finish this up on Tuesday and work on Egypt next. I expect to test on this chapter Friday so make sure you are studying your vocabulary terms and people as you go along and don't wait until the night before the test to study. February 3rd: Welcome to February Golden Hawks! Today, after your quiz, you received your new note packet and vocabulary words for Chapter 2 on Mesopotamia and Egypt. Tonight, work on learning your new words. make Flash Cards, quizzlets or just cover the terms up and quiz yourself over the words, whatever method you use work on learning them tonight since there is more to come tomorrow!

January 28th: Welcome Golden Hawks to Ms. Churchill's World History Class! I look forward to getting to know you and working with each of you this coming semester. First a few quick tips about this website. The home section has basic class information such as how grades are weighted, tutorial times and a few quick informational references about the class such as what are purple sheets.
Your announcements for class will be here and these will be posted at a minimum of once a week but frequently more often. I will let you know what will be going on that week in class, resources you may find helpful and when upcoming tests and quizzes are. Make sure you are reading the announcements regularly and the ones that correspond with your class.
In the resources section you will find power points, note packets, test reviews, purple sheets, summary videos etc. If you miss a day of class you can always get your notes from the power points or whatever resources you may need. Links to summary videos such as Crash Course, Keith Hughes and Mr. Corwin's are posted and they are a great sources of information to help you learn about a certain topic we are covering or a topic you may be interested in.
We will be working through the course chronologically starting with learning reading and writing protocols and then early Paleolithic and Neolithic man, what makes a civilization and early River Valley Civilizations. I hope you are excited about the class, I know I am.
Homework for Tuesday night is to learn your vocabulary words and to bring in a completed Student Questionnaire with all parent contact information
